For authors with a large number of publications, and in particular asian surnames, searching by author: doesn't help find specific papers quickly. For example, 1 in 7 papers in my database contain an author with the surname Chen. Something like author1: to search by first author would be hugely beneficial in speeding up finding papers within large collections.

You can search for the first author by using: first_author:"lastName" and search for the last author by using last_author:"lastName"
