Options to choose last name first, omit first names, only initials, first 2 authors, all authors, only first author, etc… in the Author column
This should also include the ability to distinguish between institutional and personal authors
Yes, i second the motion!
+1 I cannot believe this is still not possible.
+1 Being able to sort by last name is really important!
Agreed! It's very difficult to scan the list when you have to deal with differing numbers of characters (one intial or two, full first name, etc.) preceding the actual last name of the author.
If there should be only one way of display, I'd prefer seeing the last name first, since in most citation styles, only the last names are mentioned.
PLEASE stop having browser app displaying first name in author column. NO ONE needs this
Why is this feature *STILL* not added!? Seriously. Who cares about dark mode? I am considering finding another solution at this point. This is ridiculous. It would probably take an intern an afternoon to code.
I agree with you...every other feature request should be put on hold until this is done
It's been well over two years since the request was made to incorporate a feature that was already in Papers3 - the option(s) of sorting by last name, using initials, etc. This toolset is significantly less useful without this option. After paying to 'upgrade' from Papers3 to Readcube papers, it's incredibly disappointing to find that options available in the older version are not incorporated in this current toolset – and apparently the speed of bringing these options to fruition in this 'newer' version is best described as glacial....
How can you be dedicating time to deploying 'dark mode', when the options of displaying author names is not yet addressed? VERY poor product management.
I agree with everyone. I am so disappointed in this new Papers. I finally broke down and switched. Only to realise that while sorted by the Last Name, I am faced with a bunch of First Names or First Initials.
The original papers app was designed by researchers and though had issues over the years at least it displayed the data in the way all researchers are used to seeing it!!
