One of the things I like about Readcube is its effort to improve the reading experience. The figure sidebar is a step in the right direction, since it reduces the amount of back and forth scrolling throughout the pdf and losing your place while reading. However, since the figure pops up on top of the pdf and blocks and blackens it, there is still a lot of back and forth when looking at figures. The best solution to this I have seen is something similar to the "side by side" view that Elife has implemented on their website, where you can simultaneously look at figures while reading the text side by side. If there was a way to view the figures in Readcube to the side of the pdf and be able to zoom in, this would greatly improve the reading experience and give Readcube a big advantage over other similar apps.
