Different metadata (DOI's, etc.) for papers with multiple files/versions

I would very much like to add different metadata to the different files of papers which have appeared in multiple sources (academic journals, etc.), because this prevents the recommendation system from recommending papers as 'out of library' due to having a different DOI as the papers in my library. I look forward to any reactions on this feature request.
